Terms of Service
Please read these Terms of Service ("ToS") carefully before using the Recall Reads mobile application ("App") provided by Guido Sanchez Cardarelli (referred to as "Developer"). By using the App, you agree to be bound by these ToS.
Use and Restrictions
- The App is intended for personal use only and should not be used for any illegal activities.
- Users are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the data entered into the App.
- Users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations while using the App.
Data Storage
- An anonymous identifier is assigned on first launch and used to associate your data with your account, even before you sign in with Apple.
- Books, insights, favorites, and settings are synced to Supabase servers to enable backup and cross-device sync. This data is associated with your account identifier and is not shared with third parties.
- Reading preferences you provide during onboarding (how you discovered the app, reading frequency, and genre interests) are stored to personalise your experience.
- When you sign in with Apple, your authentication credentials are managed by Apple. A minimal account record (Apple user identifier and, if provided, email address) is stored securely to link your account to your Apple identity.
Subscription-Based Services
The App offers the following subscription tiers through Apple's in-app purchase system:
Free Tier
- Add and use up to 2 books.
- All other currently available functionality remains accessible within the free tier for the books you have added.
- Custom app icons are not available on the free tier.
Toshi+ (Annual)
- Unlimited books
- More insights in widgets and reminders
- Collectible app icons
- Price: €35.99 / year (equivalent to €2.99 / month)
- 3-day free trial included
Toshi+ (Monthly)
- Same features as Annual
- Price: €9.99 / month
- No free trial
Prices are set in EUR. Users in other regions will see converted prices set by Apple. Actual prices may vary by region and are displayed in the App at the time of purchase.
Pricing and Renewal
- Subscriptions are auto-renewable and managed entirely through Apple's App Store.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings.
- Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the current paid period; you retain access until then.
- No refunds are issued for unused portions of a subscription period, except where required by applicable law.
- If a free trial is offered, unused trial time will be forfeited upon purchasing a subscription.
App Store Terms
The App is subject to Apple's standard terms and conditions:

Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how Guido Sanchez Cardarelli (referred to as "Developer") collects, uses, and protects the personal information of users ("User" or "you") of the Recall Reads mobile application ("App").
Types of Personal Information Collected
Anonymous Identifier
On first launch, the App assigns an anonymous identifier to your session. This identifier is created before any sign-in and is used to associate your data with your account. If you later sign in with Apple, this identifier is linked to your Apple account so that all your data is preserved.
Reading Data (Supabase)
Your books, insights, favorites, and settings are synced to Supabase servers to enable backup and cross-device access. This data is associated with your account identifier. It is not accessible to third parties and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Onboarding Preferences
During onboarding, the App collects reading preferences: how you discovered the app, your approximate reading frequency, whether you find it hard to remember what you read, and your preferred book genres. This information is stored in your account profile to personalise your experience. It is not shared with third parties.
Account Information (Sign in with Apple)
When you sign in with Apple, Apple provides a unique user identifier and optionally an email address (which Apple may relay or hide). We store only the minimum information required to associate your data with your account. We do not store passwords.
App Analytics
The App collects usage analytics through Supabase to understand how the App is used and to improve the product. We do not use analytics data for advertising or cross-app tracking. No book titles, note contents, or reading preferences are included in analytics events.
Use of Personal Information
Personal information collected is used solely to:
- Provide and maintain the App's core functionality
- Authenticate and secure your account
- Enable backup and sync across your devices
- Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the App
- Respond to support inquiries
Your reading data, books, and insights are not shared with any third parties.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process personal data on the following grounds:
- Contract Performance: Processing necessary to provide the services you requested.
- Legitimate Interest: Improving the App, ensuring security, preventing fraud, and understanding aggregate usage patterns.
- Consent: For any optional features or communications where consent is sought.
- Legal Obligation: Compliance with applicable legal requirements.

Data Security
- All communication between the App and Supabase is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- Reading data, onboarding preferences, and account records are stored in Supabase using industry-standard security practices.
- Authentication is handled entirely by Apple's Sign in with Apple infrastructure.
- Analytics data transmitted to Supabase is encrypted in transit.
Data Retention
- Reading data and onboarding preferences: Retained until you request deletion or delete your account.
- Account record: Retained until you request deletion. Contact us at recalreads@gmail.com to request account deletion.
- Analytics: Usage event data is retained for up to 24 months.
User Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access your personal information
- Right to correct inaccurate data
- Right to delete your data
- Right to export your data
For EEA users, you additionally have the right to data portability, to restrict processing, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Privacy Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or App Store release notes.

Jurisdiction and Governing Law
These Terms and any disputes arising from the use of the App shall be governed by the laws of Germany. Any legal disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Berlin. The parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation before initiating formal proceedings.
End User License Agreement (EULA)
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you ("User") and Guido Sanchez Cardarelli ("Developer") governing your use of the Recall Reads mobile application ("App").
Permitted Use
By installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to use it solely for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to use the App for any illegal activities or in violation of applicable laws.
Account Responsibilities
If you create a Recall Reads account, you are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
- Providing accurate and current account information
- Complying with all applicable laws and these terms
You must not share your account with others or allow others to access your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Subscription and Billing
Subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's in-app purchase system and are subject to Apple's terms. The Developer does not handle payment information directly. Subscription management (upgrade, downgrade, cancellation) is done through your Apple ID account settings.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the App. The Developer does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, data integrity, or the accuracy of any content generated by the App.
The Developer is not responsible for service interruptions or data loss caused by third-party providers (including but not limited to Apple App Store or Supabase). Those services are subject to their own terms and conditions.
Intellectual Property
The App, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by the Developer and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You have no ownership or intellectual property rights in the App. The licence granted is limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable.
Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising from this Agreement shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to binding arbitration by a mutually agreed-upon arbitrator, or submitted to the competent courts of Berlin, Germany.
Miscellaneous
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and the Developer regarding use of the App. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver.
By installing, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by this EULA.
